A fridge is bought for ten years, so a mistake is expensive. Here are four questions to answer before buying.
Width: 60 or 70 cm
A standard niche is 60 cm. A 70 cm model gives a third more shelf space, but check the door opening and how the door opens next to a wall.
Do you need No Frost
No Frost keeps ice from building up in the freezer: no defrosting ever. Food dries a little faster, so keep it in containers.
Energy class
Classes B and E differ by up to 150 kWh a year. Over ten years that is the price of another small appliance.
| Family | Volume | Width |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 people | 250–300 l | 60 cm |
| 3–4 people | 320–380 l | 60–70 cm |
| 5 and more | from 450 l | 70 cm or Multi Door |
What to pick
For most kitchens — 60 cm No Frost of class B. If the niche allows, 70 cm is handier for big pots, and Multi Door suits families who shop for a week.
